Improvements

  • Plugin development: Plugin API 3 organizes views as pages or files, with file capabilities for document editing and Eidos schema, table, and configuration access. Plugins use a consistent capability interface with lifecycle-bound handles.

Plugin upgrade required: executable plugins must declare requires.pluginApi: "3.0.0" and use the new SDK interface. Update installed executable plugins to their API 3 releases after upgrading Lite. Plugin developers should follow the migration guide. Pure API 1.6 theme plugins remain supported.

Bug fixes

  • File creation time: File metadata shows the actual creation time when the filesystem provides it, instead of repeating the last modification time. Filesystems without creation timestamps leave this value empty.
  • Restored file deletions: After restoring a history snapshot that deletes a SQLite file, refreshing history, staging, and syncing preserve the deletion. Cached database state no longer makes the deleted file reappear.

What's new

Organize local files in a table

Choose Eidos in New File and enable File Metadata Management to browse the containing folder and its subfolders as a table. Tag and rate files, add custom fields, filter the list, and preview attachments without importing the original files. Renaming a field preserves its values.

Values are stored on the physical files, outside the .eidos database. Deleting a custom field clears its corresponding attributes. Backups and transfers must preserve extended attributes or alternate data streams; do not rely on copying the .eidos file or on Sync alone to preserve these values.

Build plugins for ordinary files

Plugin API 2.0 adds a unified filesystem interface for permitted file access, media viewers, and companion files such as subtitles. Plugins can respond to changes across file types and provide file-specific actions.

Plugin upgrade required: executable plugins must migrate to ctx.fs and declare requires.pluginApi: "2.0.0". Older executable plugins will not run until updated. Pure API 1.6 theme plugins remain supported.

Improvements

  • Creation menu: New File, New Folder, and Import share the + menu beside search. The simpler New File dialog keeps Eidos and Text choices beside its title without changing height when switching.
  • Plugin browsing: Marketplace entries can show screenshots before installation.

Bug fixes

  • File tree: Move nested files to the root by dropping them in the empty area. Moving files avoids unnecessary full-tree refreshes, and holding the scrollbar at the bottom no longer causes repeated jumping.
  • Terminal appearance: Terminal colors and fonts follow theme plugins when switching between light and dark mode.

What's new

Community marketplace and one-click install

Explore the new community marketplace at community.eidos.space to discover plugins and themes. Clicking an install button in your browser opens Eidos Lite and prompts for confirmation, making installation seamless. You can also browse the marketplace directly inside the app under Settings → Plugins → Marketplace.

Customize your appearance with theme plugins

Eidos Lite now supports theme plugins to personalize colors, surfaces, typography, and corner styling across all your Spaces. Theme plugins contain only validated styles and bundled fonts with zero executable code, and can be previewed or switched at any time under Settings → Theme.

Space and document capabilities for plugins

Plugins can now power richer workflows for Markdown notes in your Space. With user-granted permissions, plugins can index documents, inspect line counts, react to file changes, and open or create notes directly within the app. Document contents remain strictly protected within the host sandbox.

Improvements

  • Batch file operations: Multi-select files and folders in Space Explorer using Shift or Cmd/Ctrl to drag, move, or delete multiple items together with clear feedback.
  • Editor title sync: The title bar updates immediately when switching or renaming Markdown files.

Bug fixes

  • Editor layout: Aligns empty prompt text and cursor positioning in the Markdown editor.

What's new

Run plugin actions on your records

Plugins can now add actions to a table's context menu. Run an action on selected records or the current filtered set, follow its progress in a task window that can be minimized or expanded, and undo or redo supported changes without running the action again.

Plugins can also provide a dedicated workspace for a .eidos file through Open with. Connection settings, including endpoints, models and API keys, are managed in the plugin's settings; API keys are stored encrypted on your device.

Improvements

  • Plugin installation: Drag a .eidos-plugin file onto the Plugins page to install or update it.
  • Plugin compatibility: Eidos checks a plugin's required API before installation and execution. An incompatible update leaves the installed version intact, and incompatible plugins remain available for inspection or removal.
  • Editor titles: The title bar identifies the active plugin or Markdown editing mode alongside the filename.

Bug fixes

  • Dark mode: Markdown in Feed and record details now follows the app's theme, even when it differs from the system appearance.
  • History: Diff values stay aligned with their column labels when historical column order differs.
  • Plugin pages: Avoid an unnecessary page scrollbar.

What's new

Extend Eidos Lite with plugins

Add new ways to view tables, open files, and work with documents while keeping your Space and its data on your device. Browse the plugin marketplace from Settings > Plugins, or install a local .eidos-plugin package. The marketplace currently includes Map, Chart, and Markmap.

Plugins install once on your device and are enabled separately for each Space. Choose a plugin from Open with, set a default editor for a file type in Settings > Files, or add a plugin view to a table. Updating a plugin keeps your Space choices, and installed packages continue to load after upgrading Eidos Lite.

Drag files into your Space

Drag files from Finder or your system file manager onto a folder in the sidebar to import them directly into your Space.

Improvements

  • Startup: Eidos Lite now opens faster.
  • Feed: Recent records show relative timestamps, making activity easier to scan.

Bug fixes

  • Record editing: Pressing Enter in a record title moves the cursor into its Content editor.
  • Video preview: Dragging the playback position now seeks correctly in local videos.
  • Text files: .graftignore opens as an ordinary text file instead of being treated as protected versioning data.
  • Versions: Cancelling a background history read no longer clears the current version status.

What's new

Publish Markdown for free

Share a local Markdown document as a public page without a Publish subscription. Sign in to Eidos Lite with a verified email address to publish up to 10 active Markdown pages, sharing 100 MiB of storage.

The Publish panel now shows your plan, storage usage, page allowance, and daily version allowance. Free publishing supports documents up to 2 MiB, up to 20 attachments of 25 MiB each, and a total upload of 50 MiB per publication. You can create up to 20 new versions per UTC day.

Free pages retain Eidos branding and request that search engines do not index them; anyone with the public link can still visit. Previous versions are retained for 24 hours. Eidos File publishing, Forms, password-protected or account-private access, and CLI keys require Pro. These limits do not affect your local files.

What's new

Feed view

Feed is a new standard View that reads a Table as a timeline: newest records come first, titled by the Record Label with the Content Field rendered as Markdown. It is a more natural way to read logs, notes, and other content that builds up over time. Feed is available in Eidos Lite, the browser editor, and eidos serve.

Record navigation

The record panel can now move to the previous or next record, following the current View's order, so you can keep reading without returning to the grid. The panel can also switch between the side panel and the full content page.

Bug fixes

  • Content images: Record Content now displays images stored with an Eidos File, including relative paths in Markdown and HTML.
  • Sync setup: Spaces that are not yet connected now use the same compact Sync panel and account menu as connected Spaces.
  • Sync reliability: A Hosted upload rejected by a Remote race now re-fetches and reclassifies before retrying, instead of replaying against a stale head.
  • Field conversion: Converting a JSON string array in a Text field into Multi-select now yields one choice per value, and converted scalar cells can be cleared.
  • Windows titlebar: Caption controls stay visible in the dark theme.

What's new

Copy images from the attachment preview

The attachment preview for image files now includes a Copy image button. Copy the original image to the clipboard and paste it into another app. The action row keeps a stable width while the button cycles through Copy image, Copied, and Copy failed, and Open and Download use short labels with the file name kept in their accessible names.

Improvements

  • Published pages: Published documents now highlight fenced code blocks with the editor's semantic token colors in both light and dark themes, so shared pages match the editor.
  • Headings: Fold-all now collapses the dominant heading level — the shallowest level that repeats — and leaves a lone title heading expanded, so folding a document preserves its structure.
  • Sync: Read-only or expired Sync access now shows a clear warning in the Sync inspector and panel, reports Sync writes are paused instead of a misleading upload count, and promotes Manage Sync access so renewal is the obvious next step.

Bug fixes

  • Windows/Linux titlebar: File titlebar actions are sized from the OS caption metrics, keeping the row aligned at fractional display scaling such as Windows 125%.
  • Interface zoom: The saved interface scale is re-applied after a window is resized, moved, maximized, or restored instead of requiring a manual reload.
  • Space Explorer: Shift/Command/Control-clicking now extends the tree selection instead of also opening the clicked file.
  • Markdown editor: The block insert gutter stays inside the editor's visible bounds instead of drifting over the titlebar and side panels.
  • Changes: Expanded tables in the flat changes list align with the parent file's icon and label, and the tree/list toggle lines up with the list edge.

What's new

Collapsible headings and section reordering

Headings now have a fold control. Collapse a heading to hide its section or expand it again, and fold or unfold every heading at once. Drag a heading's gutter handle to move the whole section — the heading and its content — in one step. New document shortcuts: toggle fold (⌘/Ctrl+Alt+[), fold all (⌘/Ctrl+Alt+0), and unfold all (⌘/Ctrl+Alt+Shift+0). All three can be rebound in Settings.

Insert callout blocks

Add a callout from the block insertion menu. A new callout starts as a Note with a capitalized title, and you can change its type or title directly. Callouts render with the same styling in the editor and in published documents.

Resize images by dragging

Hover or focus a standalone image to reveal left and right resize handles. Drag to resize proportionally within the content column, or press Left/Right (8 px, or 32 px with Shift). The width is saved using the existing ![alt|width](url) syntax, and a completed drag is a single undo step. Read-only documents and inline images keep their current behavior.

Configure document shortcuts and switch Markdown modes faster

Keyboard Shortcuts settings now include a Document group — fold headings, move list items and blocks, and apply bold or italic — alongside the existing workspace and table commands. Rebind, clear, or restore any shortcut, with inline warnings for conflicts and reserved system bindings. A new ⌘/Ctrl+2 shortcut switches between rich text and Markdown source editing, and its binding is shown in the Open with menu.

Improvements

  • Published pages: Published documents now use a static HTML renderer that shares the editor's syntax for math, callouts, properties, highlights, and image sizes. The stylesheet is bundled with the page, so published content needs no editor runtime and no separate stylesheet request.

Bug fixes

  • Sync: Signing out and back in, or switching accounts, no longer leaves Sync stuck; authentication is recovered automatically.
  • Navigation: Moving between views, files, and records now uses one navigation history, so Back and Forward restore the expected record.
  • Quick Open: Quick Open is now a modal dialog, keeping keyboard focus inside it while it is open.
  • Version history: Selecting a version no longer reloads its details, so the panel stays responsive.
  • Interface: Corrected explorer context-menu sizing and typography, and aligned Settings sections and application branding.
  • Fields: System field labels are aligned in the fields popover.
  • Markdown editor: The editor focuses the start of the document when it opens, and nested lists no longer show extra vertical spacing.

What's new

Read What's New inside Lite

Open What's New from Settings or the Help menu to read the current version's release notes without leaving the app. Notes are available offline in English and Simplified Chinese, with an inline language switch that keeps your interface language unchanged.

Improvements

  • File opening: Open HTML files as source or choose Open with > Preview. Embedded previews stay within the document area as panels and windows change size.
  • Formula preview: See formula results in a simpler layout with less surrounding clutter.

Bug fixes

  • Sync actions: Saving a local version no longer starts an automatic upload. Explicit uploads use the known remote state without an extra fetch; checking and receiving updates remain separate actions.
  • Interface scaling: Keep the latest saved zoom level after reloading a window.
  • Relation lookups: Display linked record labels and open the correct target record when a lookup returns relation values.
  • Changes layout: Align file rows in the flat Changes list and correct spacing around window panels.
