Eidos

Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 8, 2026

1. Introduction

Eidos ("we," "our," or "us") is dedicated to providing an extensible framework for personal data management. We believe that your data belongs to you, and privacy should be a default feature, not an afterthought. This Privacy Policy explains how Eidos handles your information.

2. Local-First Philosophy

Eidos is a local-first application. This means:

  • By default, all your data (notes, files, databases) is stored locally on your device.
  • We do not have access to your private data stored within the Eidos application.
  • No account is required to use the core features of Eidos.

3. Data Collection and Usage

We collect minimal information only when necessary for specific services:

A. Website and Analytics

Our website (eidos.space) may collect anonymous usage data to help us improve our services. This includes information about browser types, pages visited, and time spent on the site. We do not use this data to identify individual users.

B. Account Information

If you choose to create an account for Eidos Cloud Sync or to purchase a Spark license, we may collect:

  • Email address
  • Payment information (processed securely through third-party providers like Creem)
  • Authentication data (via GitHub or Google sign-in)

4. Synchronization and Storage

Eidos offers multiple ways to synchronize your data:

  • Custom Sync Providers: If you use your own S3 bucket or WebDAV server, your data is transmitted directly between your device and your provider. We never see or store this data.
  • Eidos Cloud Sync: If you use our managed sync service, your data is encrypted during transmission and storage. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information.

5. Third-Party Services

We may use third-party services for specific functions:

  • Creem: For processing payments and managing licenses.
  • GitHub/Discord: For community interaction and authentication.

These services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them.

6. Data Ownership and Export

You retain full ownership of all data you create or manage with Eidos. You can export your data at any time in standard formats. We do not lock you into our ecosystem.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
